Description
“Hello my name is Inigo Montoya…” Journey to a land of giant rodents and Spanish swordsmen with our film screening of cult classic The Princess Bride (1987) in the Great Hall of Newcastle’s Castle Keep.
A comical fantasy tale of beautiful princesses, foul villains and dashing heroes from director Rob Reiner. The Princess Buttercup (Robin Wright Penn) is saddened by the disappearance of her true-love Westley (Cary Elwes), and finds that she now has no choice but to become engaged to the evil Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon). But Westley soon arrives back on the scene and, along with his mismatched band of adventurers, sets off on a daring mission to rescue his beloved. The film also stars Mandy Patinkin as a Spanish cavalier and Billy Crystal as a crazy magician.
Please note: This film screening takes place in the Great Hall of Newcastle Castle Keep which is unfortunately inaccessible to wheelchair users. Doors will open at approximately 6.30pm.
The Keep is a Scheduled Ancient Monument without any central heating, so therefore has a tendency to get quite cold. However, what it lacks in warmth, it certainly makes up for in atmosphere! The Great Hall is also only accessible via a steep flight of spiral stairs. Therefore, we recommend that you wear suitable clothing and footwear.
